This is a 2,200+hp Saleen S7 on Pump Gas

In the world of automotive supercar tuning, the 1,000hp mark was once a fabled figure only reached by the very best. Well now, that mark has been raised to 2000hp and the latest modified supercar to reach and exceed that mark is this insane Saleen S7.

The following orange Saleen S7 has been created by Total Race in Russia and during a recent dyno test, it managed to put down an incredible 2281awhp! What’s more stunning about that figure is that it’s an at the wheel reading and was done on pump gas. What’s more, peak torque is an insane 1,737lb-ft!

If you take into account a 15% drivetrain loss, then this Saleen S7 is producing just over 2,600hp at the flywheel. What’s more, when fuelled with racing gas, it’s quite possible this car could deliver 3,000hp at the flywheel!

It’s currently believed that the car will dominate the Unlim 500+ Russian drag races!

It has been a difficult ride for Steve Saleen as his various companies have gone through mergers, bankruptcies and now it seems a rebirth.

The rebirth comes courtesy of a merger between Saleen Automotive and SMS Signature Cars. Steve Saleen left his namesake company in 2007 after a falling out with management. Shortly thereafter he founded SMS Signature Cars who went on to produce high performance versions of various American muscle cars and trucks, with a primary focus on the car that gave Saleen so much of its success early on — the Ford Mustang.

The press release sent out today confirms that Steve Saleen will once again be in charge of the company, which plans to offer a “complete line of upgraded muscle cars, performance cars, automotive aftermarket specialty parts and lifestyle accessories.” Saleen is also famous for their record-breaking S7 supercar. And it has been confirmed by Steve himself that they are indeed working on another record-smashing supercar.

In addition to work on a brand new Saleen branded supercar, the company is reportedly working on a high performance electric vehicle as well as zero-emission cars. Steve Saleen had the following to say about the rebirth of his brand, “We are excited to become a publicly-traded company and enter into the next stage of our growth, as we bring these automobiles into the mainstream and grow our retail presence into new markets in the U.S. We are also developing high-performance electric vehicles targeting the zero-emissions segment.”

Following on from recent news that Saleen was preparing its very first electric car, it has been confirmed that the car in question won’t be a unique electric car built from the ground-up, and will instead by a modified Tesla Model S!

While a name has yet to be given to the Model S tuned by Saleen, company boss Steve Saleen did reveal that it will feature its own revolutionary design obviously taking cues from the existing design of the Model S. He said, “[W]ith our upcoming entry into the electric car market with a revolutionary design all our own, we share a desire to also produce vehicles that are not dependent on fossil fuels and which accomplish this fuel independence with a tremendous assemblage of grace and technology…I fully intend to produce one of the most compelling Tesla’s to ever hit the roadway.”

It is currently unclear when the Saleen tuned Tesla Model S will be revealed. However, the package, whatever it brings, would most likely be available to all Tesla Model S owners rather than freshly produced Model S’ exclusively heading to Saleen for modifications.

If the past of Saleen Mustangs is anything to go by, then for the Saleen Model S, we can expect to see some fairly decent power upgrades as well as new suspension and braking systems.
